Step 1 - Entry Visas
A
visitor visa will be required for most international visitors to Australia.
Detailed information for visas and information for entering Australia can
be found on the official Australian Foreign Affairs website www.dfat.gov.au
Step 2 - International Visitors firearms Permit
All international competitors are required to make a “APPLICATION FOR AN INTERNATIONAL VISITOR FIREARMS PERMIT “: click on Application _IVFP to get the application form.
Application must be made to the Victorian Firearm Licensing Services:

If you intend to import cartridges or firearm spare parts as part of your checked in luggage, these details also need to be completed in the relevant sections of the above forms.
Step 3 - Shotgun Permits and Australian Custom
Service Formalities
All
formalities for importing and exporting your firearm through Australian Customs
will be handled by Field and Game Federation of Australia, it is important
that all information requested, is supplied on the following form: Word
version / PDFversion
You are allowed to bring more than one firearm, if you wish. If you intend
bringing more than one firearm, affix additional form with all relevant details.
The firearm(s) that you bring must match exactly the details of the firearm(s)
that you list on the following form.
It is imperative that these documents are received at least 6 weeks prior
to your travel.

Step 4 (Optional) - Importation of Shotgun Cartridges
You may import cartridges into Australia in Checked in Baggage, airline allowance is 5kg.
You may also import them in larger quantities by forwarding them to an address in Australia. The addressee must be the holder of a Firearms Licence in Victoria or be a Licensed Firearms Dealer.
Irrespective of whether you are importing cartridges in your checked in baggage, or forwarding larger quantities by air or sea freight, you require an import permit, whose application form you can ask for to Mr Ray Mc FARLANE raymcf@pipeline.com.au

Shotguns
Permits for the import of these firearms into Australia must be sought from
the Attorney Generals Department. www.ag.gov.au
